I thought of doing that very thing, but I could think of two reasons not
to: 1) We will start seeing with bleedperl kits at least things like:
$ SHO LOG PERL_ROOT
"PERL_ROOT" = "DRA3:[PERL_ROOT.]" (LNM$PROCESS_TABLE)
hence saying things like "it is located in you perl_root" now become a
little on the ambiguous side. 2) The extra underscore is one more
character and I didn't want to bump up against the 39 limit (not that a
typical perl build dir is likely to: PERL-5_100_99_ROOT is still quite far
from the 39 char limit of ODS-2).
I admit to not feeling strongly about either of these reasons and am
willing to change it to C<prefix + "_ROOT.]"> unless anyone else objects.
Comments anyone?
