Craig,

Thanks! Correcting the file specification in perldoc.pm fixed the problem.

Another question just occured to me. Now that I have built and installed the new version of PERL, will I need to rebuild mod_perl for OpenVMS in order to get OpenVMS APACHE to use the new version of PERL?

Thanks,

Eric

Is this expected? has anybody else experienced this or can somebody else repeat
the problem? I haven't looked at the source to see what file it is looking for.
Maybe there is something missing in the install step?

Good catch. It's looking in perl_root:[lib.pod], but the file actually lives
in perl_root:[lib.pods] (plural):

$ dir perl_root:[000000...]perldoc.pod

Directory PERL_ROOT:[000000.LIB.PODS]

perldoc.pod;1

Total of 1 file.

It should be an easy fix to just add the "s" on the end of the search directory
here:

$ sea perl_root:[000000...]*.pm "lib.pod"

******************************
PERL_ROOT:[000000.LIB.VMS_IA64.5_12_3.POD]perldoc.pm;1

                push(@searchdirs,'perl_root:[lib.pod]')  # installed pods
