These are generally created by the vncserver script. Have you ran this manually as the user you are trying to get to work? > If root has it and I do not, then what can I do to get them.. It is just a text file telling VNC what to run. > I copied the xstartup file into my .vnc and I still get the grey > thatch.. Check the permissions on the file (ls -l ~/.vnc/). It needs to be readable and executable by the user. It is probably a good idea to make it owned by the user, also. > I have tried different version of the xstartup using just the default > ~/xinitrc to using the unset SESSION_MANAGER and & twm&... If the above permissions aren't correct then the xstartup isn't getting ran. If the permissions are correct, please tell us exactly what you have in the xstartup and what your log file says. > Do I have to run a script while logged in as myself? That my possibly fix it (see above). I would try removing the xstartup you copied first (or the whole .vnc directory). > What have I missed.. > \Bob > -- William Hooper _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
