I'm not sure I understand your question.  Are you asking how to get VNC to
display the login so you have to use your username and password to start a
session?

If so then you will probably want to set VNC up using xinetd rather than
using the vncserver service.  See
http://www.sourcecodecorner.com/articles/vnc/linux.asp .

Do note that using the xinetd method destroys your session when you log out,
meaning you loose the persistent desktop.

I'm not sure but I would imagine that locking the screen would work.  I can
test that for you if you have trouble.

I see you mention that you use SSH.  You could also use the firewall to
reject all VNC connections not coming from localhost, meaning someone would
need to be on the machine or logged in through an SSH tunnel to get to your
session.
