The fix is to set the default settings for vnc not the current user
settings. And running it as a service not as an application.
As when you are at the login screen (or lock) you are using the default
settings. Look at the properties window title bar.

Subject: Service doesn't start properly on boot under XP

Hello...

After searching through the archives, I've seen this mentioned before,
but never with a remedy. It seems that under WinXP, the VNC service
never properly starts unless you first log the machine in locally. This

is a real problem if you reboot the computer remotely, as you need
someone to log in before the VNC service works properly.

It seems as though the service starts, as once I reboot it asks me for a

password. However, after sending the correct password, nothing happens.

The window goes away. Another attempt yields the same result.

Does anyone know any way around this?

(P.S. The other email I found on the subject was here, but there was
never a reply...
