Use of vnc viewer without static ip address

I use a dsl service to get an internet connection. The connection gives a dynamic ip 
address.  I would like to know how to use vnc server with that?  I don't know how to 
find out my ip address albeit temporary.  I would appreciate some step by step 
directions on how to get this to work.
