1) You can visit <http://www.gotomyvnc.com> to check your WAN IP
Address -- you can also check to see if your VNC Service is accessible.

2) To make things simpler, you could also set up one of the numerous
Dynamic DNS services available -- I've been using no-ip.com for quite
some time now, and I have never had a single problem with their service.
It also integrates nicely into my Smoothwall
<http://www.smoothwall.org>.  Google for "Dynamic DNS" and I am sure you
will find something that suits you.

3) Consider tunneling VNC via SSH
