My first post on this list.
I'm italian, so sorry for my bad english, hope you'll understand me.
I've a Win2000 professional machine running Vnc Server (version 3.3.7).
I've registered WinVnc as a system service: in this way the OS starts the service at boot tims.
When I start (or reboot) the pc, all works fine. But if I (for any reason) stop the service on the computer, I cannot re-use winvnc server until I reboot the machine.
If I go in "control panel --> Services" and try to restart the WinVnc Server Service, the pc says "starting service.. ok" but the service simply does not run. If I go to tart-->programs-->Vnc--> Run Vnc Server, the server starts (i can see the icon in the system tray), but I'm not able to connect to it with any client. When I try to connect to the server from a windows client (running winvnc 3.3.7) the server asks for password, I enter the correct password and hit OK, and nothing more happens (the program "disappears").
When I try to connect to the server from a linux client (invoking the vncviewer binary from a shell), I see on the shell output the following error message:
VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
Password:
VNC authentication succeeded
ReadFromRFBServer: rdr::EndOfStream
I think this is the same thing happening on the windows client, but on windows simply I can't see any verbose output from the vnc client.
Any suggestions? Why does this happen? Must I reboot my machine everytime i need to stop the WinVnc server :-/ ?
thanks in advance
