Hi,

If I enter the Display Properties and try to change the settings, I get
this:
"The display control panel is unable to change the display settings.
The graphics driver returned an unexpected error"

I have a matrox G450 and used Win2000 own driver but tried to change to
latest Matrox driver and it's still the same problem.

The settings say 1024X768 32bit colour, but it only is 640x480 (according to
the proportions of the screen contra icons).

Niklas,

640x480 witrh 16 colours is an old VGA mode, and is the default when the
system is booting in "Safe Mode", even if the display settings say
otherwise. Windows 95/98/Me/XP will boot to Safe Mode if it is rebooting
after a system crash - are you sure that's not what's happening?
