This sounds so familiar. I have the same problem with 4.0b4 running on
Windows XP and connecting to it from another XP box with Win2VNC (the
Windows version of x2vnc).

It's very annoying because I have to start a second connection to send the
CTRL-ALT-DEL and the password. After that I can use the previous connection
again as it was before.

I've run winvnc with logging on and the only remarkable items were related
to desktop switches and that winvnc could not access (or was it open) those.
I didn't have time to go into the code and/or do more debugging. Maybe this
desktop thing is a pointer. I'm not sure if this is related to running in
service mode and user priviledges.
