I have to apologize. I don't know what the "user quick switch" is.

I'm using VNC with XP too but I don't have this problem. What
screen saver are you using? I'm using the "3D flower" and monitor is going
into sleep mode, but still I have no problem.
Have you, by chance, enabled the "user quick switch"?
