My ISP provides a 10Mb user web space and I get my firewall to ftp its current IP address into that area every time it changes. This is not very often as my cable connection is connected 24x7 so the IP address doesn't change much. Then when I want to connect I check the IP address using a browser and put a copy of it in my hosts file then ssh using a configuration with the host name embedded it. Cheers, Frank. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Joseph D. How about if I'm using a dynamic ip Thx Joseph -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Frank Hamersley Sent: Thursday, July 29, 2004 2:13 PM To: 'VNC List (E-mail)' Subject: RE: vnc behind a NAT Rather than exposing tcp/5900 to the Internet I would recommend using an ssh tunnel - but you need a *nix firewall to do that. This also protects your VNC traffic. Do u know if someone did something similiar? VNC viewer is on a machine with a public IP.
