with these settings, nobody would ever be able to connect to the other host, not even the navy... :-)

Hey killer, calm down. I checked the IP address of the win98 machine, it says that ip range is owned by DOD. Is this computer on a Navy computer network. I used to admin on Navy networks. It will not connect to them in most cases.
