I've been using VNC to remote desktop for elearning but bandwith is a problem. With low quality one client need more than 2Mbps (our bandwith limit). Anyone know whether is it possible use vnc with lowest bandwidth? I think that TCP protocol is the problem because client has a slowdown when there is a peak...solutions?
It's useable over 250k (less overhead and less overheads of encryption) which I have available when I use work machines from home. It's also useable, though frustratingly slow, over 64k which I've also done.
You can play with various parameters to tune the bandwidth requirements. Smaller screen size, less bits/pixel, less 'change' on the screen, better compression/choice of protocol will all improve things.
