Check the Application Event Log and see if there's anything in there. I think that RealVNC is set to log information to the default system logs.... Maybe someone else will have more suggestions. I'd say check your firewall settings, but I believe you said you can connect from within the LAN. As for your supposition that it may be a problem with dual-monitors, it should not be. According to what's been said before about dual-monitors, VNC *should not* have a problem with that... Should not. There's always a possibility, though, no matter how small it is. :-) -----Original Message----- From: Chris McNeil [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, June 23, 2005 1:36 AM To: John Aldrich Subject: RE: External Access
I am running WinXP Pro fully up-to-date. My machine does not have multiple users set up (I've had that trouble before) but I wonder if my dual monitors may cause a problem. The login seems to be successful up to where the password dialog should come up. Eventually some Java error pops up after about a minute. As far as logs go I cannot find anything in VNC itself but the router log yields no pertinent information. John Aldrich <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: What operating system? It may not be relevant, but it may help. Also do you have any sort of logging on the central server that would help indicate whether or not you're even reaching the machine? -----Original Message----- From: Chris McNeil [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 22, 2005 3:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: External Access I am using RealVNC 4.1 to control several PC's from a central box on my LAN. This works perfectly all the time but I have been attempting to configure the system so I can reach my central box from the rest of the net. I have done this without difficulty using past versions of VNC. My router has been set up correctly, to the best of my knowledge, but when I try to log in I get a slightly different Connection Details dialog. A server address with my exterior IP at port ! 0 is listed and when I click okay to move on it seems to hang and never provides a password dialog. Does anyone have any idea what might resolve this problem? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
