Rob:

Heya. Great description of the problem. :) Double NAT'ing,
though, ouch. That's painful. Do you need to run the 5200 in router
mode? Put another way, does anything else to connect to it besides
the LinkSys? If not, it's overkill and "bridge" mode might work
better.

Anyhow...it seems that you've got everything setup correctly
on the 5200 (otherwise the GoToMyVNC scan wouldn't work). Problem is,
it's very possible that your workplace firewall is not allowing
outgoing connections to TCP 590x. Many commercial-grade firewalls
restrict outbound traffic to a handful of "well known" services
(eg. SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc).

First thing to try is: setup your 5200 to forward TCP 443
on the external side to your Linksys' TCP 5901. Then setup the
Linksys to forward external TCP 5901 to your Mac listening on TCP 5901. Then try to connect to "your.ip.address::443" with the
VNC Viewer at work, where "your.ip.address" is the same as what
GoToMyVNC connects to.

This may work, as TCP 443 is usually associated with HTTPS
traffic, and your workplace firewall may let it out by default. If
that doesn't work, write back and we'll try something else...

hope that helps,
Scott

Hey Ya'll

Let me first say I have searched and searched and searched this!!
I've got a mac running OsxVnc. Set up to use port 5901. I'm on
alltel dsl. I've got a Speedstream 5200 (in router mode) and a
Linksys WRT54g router. The 5200 handles my pppoe connections. I've
tried forwarding ports 5501, 5801, and 5901 to 192.168.254.1 (and.2)
on the 5200. I've forwarded the same ports on the linksys to my
computers internal ip (192.168.x.x). The 5200 uses dhcp. I can't
connect thru realvnc from work (a pc) to my mac. WHen I use
gotomyvnc.com from home mac, it shows port 5901 responding only when
the 5200 is set to forward 5901 to 192.168.254.2. BUt I still can't
connect from work.

I've also tried setting the 5200 in brg mode. THen I let the linksys
handle my pppoe. But, I kept losing my internet connection. I'm not
really sure what was wrong there. So, I reset it to handle the pppoe,
and reset the linksys to defaults.

Can anyone help me out and walk me thru this setup?
