Hello,

VNC used to work both ways but now does not. I used to be able to connect to
my girlfriends computer but now cannot. I get "unable to connect to host:
Connection timed out (10060)". And don't know if this is related but when I
run the Server on her machine OR mine, when I hover the cursor over the VNC
Server (User) icon in the system tray, it only shows the first 4 sets of
numbers, i.e., "VNC Server (User): 192.168.1.100". That's it. It used to show
the whole string like that listed in the picture on your website at
http://www.realvnc.com/support/portforward.html.

I've been through all of the documentation many times but still can't get it
to work again. I've forwarded the ports as outlined on your site and
www.portfoward.com to get through my router but that didn't help (when I first
installed RealVNC, it worked without forwarding the port). She does not have a
router. ZoneAlarm on her computer (and mine) is configured to let VNC pass
through.

I know this is supposed to work because I have a brokerage firm (Trade Maven)
that when I have problems with their software, they use a modified version of
VNC to connect to me and view the problem. I've used them multiple times in
the last week with no glitches. When I run the server on my machine, I can
connect to it from my girlfriend's machine. Is there a site where I can try to
connect to test if I'm getting out properly (excluding the "VNC Server test
page" listed below)?

I also have a friend that is having trouble similar to mine...his dad in Italy
can connect to him, but he can't connect to his dad. Again, one-way.

Can anyone please help me? I'm tearing my hair out over this. When I first got
this and started using it, it was very easy to connect to friends and family
but it has now seemingly become very complicated.

Anyone willing to help can connect to my computer if you wish to test it but I
think my trouble is with viewing another server, not being viewed. (The "VNC
Server test page" link on page http://www.realvnc.com/support/portforward.html
works fine and can see that I have a server running.)

Thanks so much for any help,

      ......Sean
