Can you explain what you mean by "quasi-read only mode"?

VNC Personal Edition supports view-only connections fully, which I assume is
what you mean by "read-only mode".

VNC Personal Edition can be used with the VNC Mirror Driver, for improved
performance.

All standard VNC releases are designed to be installable over an existing,
running installation.
