Not complicated at all. I'm supposing you are controlling the computer
that's NOT at the university right? If so, that's the client. The other PC
will be running the server.

Subject: complicated VNC connection

hello. i'm pretty new at VNCing and the only connection i've ever made was
from my iBook to my Powerbook through a network cable, from one computer to
another.

now i'm faced with this project and i have to connect through the internet
from my house to another computer about 1500 miles away. it wouldn't be too
bad to figure out except it'll be a University system i'm going through and
apparently a very protected one.
so, as i'm trying to gather as much info before i do this, i'm hoping for
some advice.

so far i know that they use a private address. i have this info which was
sent to me from this school's net administrator:

 132.236.47.51 IP
 255.255.255.255 Subnet Mask
 132.236.64.5 Router/Gateway
 132.236.56.346 First DNS entry
 128.453.890.3 Second DNS entry

if things look funny is because i've changed the numbers a bit but you can
get the idea.
so if this is what i need to use to be able to connect, can it be done
without getting any tech guys to change anything in their system? in other
words can i use my computers [both computers in each location are mine,
i'll be installing my iBook over there to be controlled] with this settings
and if so what needs to be done?

i'm currently using CotVNC on my Powerbook and Share My Desktop on my
iBook.

 thanks in advance.
