Greetings,

This is probably a noob question, but I have been unsuccessful in searching
archives for an answer. I'm trying to connect to my home pc from work via
VNC. For testing purposes, I've left the ports as their defaults. I have
disabled the windows firewall on the home pc where vnc server is running.

Like most offices, my company has a firewall that makes it impossible for me
to even ping my home machine. So instead, I tried to connect to my vnc server
via browser with http://<myip>:5800. This actually gives me some progress as
the browser apparently connects to my home pc and brings up the VNC java
prompt asking for connection details. But for some reason, I can't get past
that java connection prompt.

The default entry for server is <myip>:0. However, trying that results in a
connection timeout. I've tried <myip>:1, <myip>:5900, <myip>:5901,
<myip>:5800, <myip>:5801, but they're all the same.

What would cause the browser to be able to connect to the vnc mini-webserver
on my home PC but not be able to complete the full connection after that? I
don't believe I forwarded port 5800 on my router at home, but since I'm
already connecting to it, it seems like that wouldn't be it.
