>> No one is whining. That insinuation was pretty rude and not very
insightful. Also, no one is talking about moving anything, only adding
something. Why are you against having another optional way to take part in
discussion about VNC? Or is it that you decided to type and send this
before you thoroughly read the thread?
I asked the question if the newsgroup and mailing list were going to
be sync'd and no one gave an answer to that. Possibly one of the messages
you and others filtered out? If they are sync'd I don't have a problem with
an optional way to take part in this mailing list. But if they aren't
sync'd then the people who want to move it to a newsgroup need to realize
they are taking it away from users who don't access to them for one reason
or another.

>> Just because you don't have the same bothers that others do does not
make
their situations any less valid. Some of us are too busy to sift through 61
messages. Hell, there can be 1,061 before there is anything of use for me
in this list, but that one thing that is can save me a lot of time so I have
to stay subscribed.
And along the same lines what bothers some may not be a bother to
others. It only takes a few minutes to sift through 61 messages that
accumulated over 3.5 days. Sifting through 1061 messages to find 1 message
useful to you is something that you are just going have to deal with on any
mailing list or newsgroup that you might join. People are going to post
something you might already know or is of no use to you. That is just the
nature of mailing lists and newsgroups. If you don't like it, then create
your own list or newsgroup and put in the rules that users should only post
information that pertains to you otherwise all other messages will be
deleted!

>> Some people don't need to partake of this list unless there is an issue
that needs taken care of where a searchable news group is more than
adequate.
Well this mailing list has an adequate searchable archive,
http://www.uk.research.att.com/search.html. How would a searchable
newsgroup be more adequate?

>> This list generates enough traffic that it is a concern to many people
in
charge of mail servers and slow internet connections. Many people that are
subscribed to this list, by nature, are subscribed to other mailing lists
and any cut in email traffic is welcome and helpful.
If 20 or so messages a day is a problem for these mail servers then
it is time to upgrade. Or if this is a problem then these people need to
choose which list is more helpful to them.
