I wasn't sure what search terms to use, but I'll try things like "NIC" and
see what turns up.

I just redownloaded the stuff from the Linksys site and reinstalled. Even
though the date on the site is something completely different, the actual
date on the .SYS file is indeed 6-13-97. I guess that the date on the site
merely represents the last time that they updated a driver for one of their
supported systems. And it's definitely written by MS.

So, anyway, that one is definitely the latest available. And I expect that
the Intel one is as well, since the machine is brand new. (I tried to check
this, but the Intel site is so glacial this afternoon that I gave up.)

Yes, I can try this. Just a matter of finding half an hour.

Incidentally, it finally dawned on me that the message "Socket error while
reading 10054" doesn;t mean that the error was on socket #10054, but that the error
number is 54; which helpfully turns out to be "Connection Reset". So I interpret
that to mean that the connection was reset by the server for some reason.

Is there a way to generate a logfile on the server? (I'm currently running it as a
service, but I guess that I can still stop the program and start it again from the
command line.)
