Good - as it should be...
But still worth checking for any other 'rogue' vncPatches hanging
around the System Folder and/or Control Panels folder, or an accidentally
renamed AT&T vncPatches in the Extensions folder.

Correct - the viewer has no need to hook into the Mac Toolbox to capture
screen updates, nor to get CPU time during drags, menus etc.

Hmmmmm.... strange!
Does the remote Mac have some sort of 3rd party extensions manager that
might be disabling the vncPatches? Does the vncPatches icon appear along
the bottom during startup of the remote Mac?
Do you have the same problem when you drag a window (i.e. does it get
'stuck' at the viewer end, but act as if the window has been 'grabbed'
at the server end)?
What about if you press the mouse button down in a window's close box?
(i.e. not just a quick click, but actually holding the button down for
a couple of seconds.)
If the above are OK it suggests that vncPatches really is loaded and
working - in which case I do not really know why it should fail to get
time during a menu click.
If the remote user 'unclicks' the menu, does everything 'come back'
as it should on the viewer?
Why don't you try out my vncPatches68k - it works slightly differently
so it might make a difference (tho' I can't claim to really understand
at present why it would...)
