I look up the call while I'm talking to them to see which trunk it came
in on and to review the Identity header. In at least one instance, I
had a traceback request completely filled out before the call was over.
Just needed to end the call to download the audio file.

"And just to be clear, you work for the US government, with the IRS?"
"Yes."
"Perfect. That should be everything I need to complete this traceback
form. You do realize you called a telephone company, right?"
