Howdy Jones,

Perhaps looking in the wrong place. There may be some really smart people out there. The Texas City explosion of 1947 has always been a mystery to me. As a young engineering student, I went to TC with a rescue team. The second ship was towed out into Galveston bay and exploded around 11:30 PM that night while I didn't have my ears covered. The report later explained the hatches were sealed after fire water could not contain the fire in the hole and the likely cause of the explosions were buildup of pressure combined with heat. HMM ?? Shades of the Oklahoma City Fed building explosion using ammonium nitrate and diesel oil plus a detonator. While ammonium nitrate is explosive, it's also extremely difficult to ignite. Your post and comments gave me pause to think about Texas City with a different view. I always believed Texas City was terrorist related.

Why? Because I can buy one ship exploding .. but not even a drunk at the Dime Box saloon will buy TWO.
