I think the asymmetry is there and must be due to a quantum effect.
I think the affinity energy is obtained by the Casimir force between
large waveform electrons, and the reset is obtained by electrons
creating leakage current to the capacitor dielectric by tunneling to
the dielectric. The ZPE asymmetry at the acceptor is thus due to a
big waveform into the acceptor, a small waveform out of the acceptor.
Jumpin' toads! If true, this means pulsed operation is not
necessary. It is merely necessary to place a tunneling barrier
between the donor and acceptor electrodes in the pile. No need for
the dielectric or pulsed mode operation. I have to wonder if the
Claredon Pile is running with both hands and a foot tied behind its
back.
