I rode a Segway at a country fair once - that's rather how I felt. However
the embarrassment probably related to the novelty effect. Have you seen the

Oddly enough it was when I was in Florence that I saw one of these for
the first time and I thought that only the design conscious Italians would
ever adopt them, expecting people where I live to find them silly. A few
years later on, and despite initial ridicule, they have become "cool" over
here...
