Another technical point, from the first reference:

"The DM powertrain incorporates BYD's own 50 kW 3-cylinder, 1.0-liter BYD371QA aluminum engine, and has a combined maximum output of 125 kW."

A top speed of the car is 160 km/h (100 mph). So apparently a 50 kW gasoline engine can produce enough energy to sustain this speed. That is in line with the estimates we made here previously. That is 50 kW running in the "sweet spot" (most efficient speed). 50 kW = 67 HP.

The 125 kW is irrelevant, except during brief bursts of speed I suppose.
