I believe you are referring to pickup trucks and the like, known as "light hybrid" or "meaningless hype." These are only marginally more efficient than ordinary trucks. However, the tractor trucks ordered by the Coca-Cola Company are 30% more efficient and this can only be accomplished with an actual hybrid configuration as far as I know.
