Just temporarily. We are, after all, living through some of the most dramatic & consequential political and economic events of the last 60 years. If this was October 1962 (the Cuban Missile Crisis) we would be obsessing about the likelihood of nuclear war.
Nuclear war seems a lot less likely now than it used to, which tells that things don't always go to hell in a handbasket, and people are not always as bad as they can be. That is worth remembering in a crisis.
