Load of crap. Fixx is a perfect case in point.

Fixx thought exercise was everything, and as far as I know he didn't
believe diet had anything to do with heart disease; his "exemplary diet"
is a myth. He killed himself with what he ate, and if he'd seen a
doctor he might have found out about it earlier than the autopsy. But he
was a stubborn cuss to end all of them and thought running was the
Answer to Everything.

Wiki observes: "The autopsy revealed that atherosclerosis had blocked
one coronary artery 95%, a second 85%, and a third 50%." This is the
kind of thing which CAN be prevented, but only if you're flexible enough
to pay attention and don't waste all your time rationalizing away the
research showing what causes it and how to get rid of it. And *running*
does not prevent it, does not cure it, and does not prevent the heart
attacks which tend to come with this kind of cardiovascular disease.

Can't find the source but I recall reading that Fixx had been having
chest pains but he "ran through" them. Real smart move.
