[Got a bounce on this, not sure why: <[email protected]>: connect to ultra5.eskimo.com[204.122.16.68]: Connection refused Anyhow I'm resending it, since my previous post on this thread was a bit rancorous, and maybe uncalled for -- this is a response to message from John Berry]
================== Indeed -- my original point was just that checkups can find stuff, and it may be stuff that you might really want to know about. My objection to the example of Fixx is it was apparently being used to support a fatalistic "oh whatever, you'll just die anyway" approach to health. Perhaps I misunderstood. (I tend to see red when Fixx's name comes up -- has to do with my upbringing. In our house Diet was King and Fixx was a herald of the devil, and his early death showed where the Truth lay.) I'm no doctor and don't claim to have all the answers, but I can, at least, recognize that someone who disdains standard medical wisdom but dies of a heart attack at 52, as Fixx did, probably didn't have all the answers, either. Check out the Rave diet, too, if you're considering a bypass. They claim success at reversing atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries.
