Imagine a similar experimental setup as in Fig.1 or the Oriana paper, except
that

1) the item labeled "stopper" is a EV photocell, with or without a high pass
filter grating

2) the layer labeled "CR39" is instead an electrically conductive pinhole
array (similar to a high pressure espresso filter) and serves as the cathode
(which is eliminated).

3) the pinhole array has been co-plated (on the electrolyte facing surface)
with Pd-D in an extremely thin coating (few nm)

... will the photocell detect EUV on the application of current? My bet is
yes.

It is almost a certainty that there is no mechanism in standard physics for
EUV in the range >10 eV photonic energy - from the application of sub watt
DC current in the range of a few volts.

How meaningful is that EUV result, if positive?

How meaningful is that result, when bolstered with the positive Oriani CR39
result?

How meaningful is the Beaty, Driscoll et al replication of Oriani, combined
with both of the above.

If a (few nm) layer of plated Ni-Pd-D (i.e. the Arata alloy ratio) is then
tried and gives and even better result, in terms of photon count - how
meaningful is that addition ?

Are we approaching rock solid evidence of a true nuclear anomaly, and a
tentative explanation for it, yet?

If results are positive for EUV, then one implication it that the energy
released from LENR is largely photonic, but below the gamma spectrum - and
that the Hagelstein "magic phonon" nonsense is superfluous and should be
abandoned.

There are other implications, but that one alone - EUV as the primary energy
release source- is well worth any reasonable effort.

The one key sticking point with all LENR vis-à-vis all of mainstream
physics, in accepting that "real fusion" has occurred, as the Zimmerman quip
evidences - has been the glaring lack of detectable higher energy photons.

If it can be shown simply that there is EUV emission instead of gammas, and
consequently no need of a pure invention (like magic phonons) then that
single fact goes a long, long way in the minds of that influential class of
skeptic.

One still must explain a valid mechanism for downshifting to EUV, but that
has essentially already been accomplished to some extent when one accepts
that we are dealing with QM tunneling reactions, not thermonuclear 'brute
force' reactions.

According to Richard Oriani, production of nuclear projectiles due to
electrolysis, using his protocol (1), is highly reproducible.
