[snip] As long as the electrolyte supports a current, and has physical resistance, then there must be a voltage drop across the electrolyte, which will be distributed across the electrolyte according to the distribution of resistance. (Of course this is not necessarily contradictory to Bockris. It's quite possible that most of the resistance is in the interface layers.) This is easily tested by measuring the resistance between two electrodes as the separation distance between them is changed.
