A lot of people have said those were fuel tanks in the left side of the photo. I assume they are right. TEPCO or the government would have issued an angry denial by now if those tanks were for some other purpose. If it weren't for these satellite photos, TEPCO would get away with covering a lot more than they are now. Bravo for the satellites and Google! This gives a you a sense of how the U.S. and Soviet military people must have felt in the 1960s when satellite recon was invented. What a magical feeling it must have been! What God-like power. Many of those people were WWII vets. I'll bet they were thinking: "We sure could have used this before the Battle of Bulge" or before Pearl Harbor. If they could have overflown the Hashirajima anchorage they would have seen the Japanese fleet was gone. Heck, they could probably have spotted it at sea, even with 1960s satellites. - Jed
