You are familiar with the Hagelstein, et al hypothesis for coupled phonons?

This concept has pretty much been the default for LENR deuterium fusion -
for answering your question - for some time; and derives from the work
Preparata...  including major input from Chubb, Kim, Storms and Swartz and
others. It does not fit well to explaining Rossi, however.

There should be lots of information on the LENR/CANR site. Perhaps Jed will
suggest the best written paper.
