Many great inventors were accomplished liars. See Edison's quote about batteries: "When a man gets on to accumulators [batteries] his inherent capacity for lying comes out."

No, it turns out that is a real person, but he spelled the name of the institution incorrectly. I don't recall the name, but anyway, Kelly is real.
