Agreed.  If hydrogen goes in and helium comes out (or, for the sake of 
argument, copper :), whatever the mechanism, how is it not "nuclear"?

(An earlier thread now leads me to suspect the reactant to be the small 
fraction of deuterium in the hydrogen.)
