This might sound like a naive question, but isn't the Arata technique documented? And if it isn't, why it isn't?

As long as "recipes" that work remain secret or purposely badly described, people will have to reinvent the wheel each time, resulting in delays of the scientific acceptance of the effect and the technology to the market.
