The electroweak force can support the gainful nature of LENR just as well as the strong force.
Beta decay can provide up to 6.5 MeV of LENR energy outputs which is about on the same level as what the strong force can produce. The Higgs field is a weak force mechanism and the thrust of new physics of the standard model into the indefinite future will be concentrated in discovering new physics involving weak force interactions. Proton penetration of the coulomb barrier contradicts this movement is standard model physics. At this juncture, we should be looking toward the weak force as the motive factor in LENR.
