On further reflection I think their responsibilities involved taking care of the missiles, and probably not launching them. That no doubt involves a lot more, and a lot of moving parts and rickety, decaying legacy systems, so the exams make more sense than I at first imagined. I wonder whether a once-a-month competency exam is the answer, although it might be, for what they're doing. Eric
