I ascribe that to the small particle size. I assume the hydrogen is sticking to the surface, not being absorbed the way it is with bulk palladium. I could be wrong. Also, I wonder if that ratio is measured reliably. With a small mass of metal it can be difficult to measure loading accurately. - Jed
