The Brightsource engineers have constructed many plants, in Spain and elsewhere. They know what they are dealing with. They have years of experience operating these plants. If what you describe is a problem I'm sure they have encountered it, and they know to defocus the mirrors in the event of a major power failure. Do not assume that you are smarter than people who built and operated billions of dollars worth of equipment over many years. Do not assume that you see things they have overlooked. That attitude irks me. Amateur critics often assume they understand potential problems with cold fusion experiments better than McKubre or Storms. - Jed
