G'day Len,
Well, not that my setup is similar to yours at all, but anyway ... on my
A4k060 with a CV64 running V on a 24bit 800x600 screen, with V's "About"
page loaded as default, V uses exactly 168,648 bytes of Chip and 4,621,656
bytes of fast ram.
So obviously, the screen res used is always going to be the dominant factor
of how much ram is used, but also consider what page you have loaded when
looking at this (you didn't mention this in you original mail).
So by looking at the various set-ups people have and the many screen
resolutions available on the Amiga, there can never be one "Official Figure"
for ram usage.
The best bet for everybody without the luxury of a GFX card is to increase
their fast ram to as much as they can afford (or their machine can handle)
and to use the excellent "FBlit" software available from Aminet to minmise
the impact on the very limited Chip Ram.
I hope this helps a bit.
Regards,
Peter
