Hi,

Since this seems to be the topic of the moment, I thought I'd add
my ramblings too. Especially since David is kind enough to answer some
of them! :)

> + What's your biggest problem with V?

As of V3.0b I have no *major* problems. :) A few niggles with the
layout and occasional graphical trash, history context and JS quirks
are some of the minor problems. I believe some of these are fixed for
non-public releases atm.

> + What has been the best improvement or addition in the last year?

->Stability!<- Almost never crashes now. :-)

Also Javascript, back-button popup menu, the way a graphic is compared
with the cached version before a complete re-download unless directly
requested by Reload. (ISTR Olli talking about this well over a year
ago, but..)

> + If you decide to use IBrowse instead of V, why is that?

I only have IB V1.1 demo. I use it on the rare occasion when V fails
to even display a page, usually because the idiot html author has
included some screwed up SCRIPT tag placement.

Ppl have mentioned how IB dithers better than V. Personally I think
IB overdoes the dithering, making some things on 256-AGA look worse
than they need to. It's true, though, that V could do with a gif
ditherer and a slightly better palette choosing system. (IMHO)

> + What feature is your biggest want?

I'd love to see the JS working on 99% sites. For eg, the BT site.
You are supposed to be able to log in with your customer number, but V
does nothing when you press the button. It does not log any errors,
it just doesn't do it. I realise that a large part of the problem is
the "non-standard" implementation used by people who believe the
internet is viewed by IE5 and nothing else.

Also, of course, if some clever bod could write a Java VM....

I also have a "Don't want to see in V!": I like how V is different to
Netscape and IE. I like how there are menu items which allow better
features and control than either of those packages. I dislike the way
those packages do certain things. Therefore I don't always like it
when people blindly moan some feature is "different" to (say)
Netscape. So what? Only change it if it's *better*, not just to be
conformist.

Regards,

Ian
