Hi Gaven,

It's on Aminet. I can't recall if it's shareware or freeware. It's not
a filesystem which requires a reformat or anything. It's sort of like
the Stakker on the PC, just nicer. ;-) It provides a virtual drive
which transparently (de)compresses all files accessed through it. The
directory structure is also accessible via the normal path, you just
get XPK'd files in it.
It is in no way necessary to use it for backups, nor is it's use
restricted to that. I just prefer it over lha/lzx archives or not
compressing the data, in that application. Tools like ABackup compress
the data for you, but I find them annoying to use.

PFS has a multiuser facility. I've never tried it, and I heard that it
is broken in some versions. Perhaps someone else can vouch for it?
You can still use PFS on the Zip, whether you use it on the harddrive
or not. You wouldn't really need muFS for that, would you?

I have removed the OS3.5 IDE-scsi.device patch because it caused
random crashes here. Do you have a 68040/60 accelerator? I seemed to
get varying stabilities with different versions of the 68060.library.
Often, the best way is to find a repeatable fault, then add bits to a
clean installation until it breaks.
Cheers,
Ian
