Don doesn't recommend "hobby" or "interest" persuits. The Amiga is
apparently
an important professional tool and no other system comes close!!

Nothing if it's just a fleeting moment to relive the past for your own
pleasure. When you install a whole new OS so that you can run productivity
apps, that isn't nostalgia. Amiga nostalgia is playing Spindizzy Worlds
and Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters, going to Cinemaware's
website and playing a few flash games, messing about with DPaint's
symmetry tool..
.. not painstaking image effects tasks in Photogenics, which is I might
add available for Windows, Linux and PocketPC.

But people like Namco sell bundles of ancient arcade games for the
Playstation and Gamecube, and they sell very well. Playing games we
liked when we were kiddies is good. You can't just pick up a Gamecube
and hope you can get most of your SNES games back again.
The Gamecube seems to be the perfect console to relive those halcyon
days of Dreamcast though :)

I could quite understand if someone had a batch of 4GB hard disks
full of Toaster/Flyer stuff and wanted to stick with their Amiga.
Moving to Amithlon would kinda break that link. No Toaster software
will run on it. Move to Windows though, and you have.. ooh.. a new
Toaster hardware/software combo, a version of Lightwave that really
works, and a million more things you can do in just as ugly a GUI
as the one on the Amiga. Yay!
I already mentioned Photogenics. What else really doesn't the PC have
that the Amiga did that people would be so sorely missing? I can't
think of anything at all...

That's untrue. Vapor have always been totally detached from Hyperion in
every way. There's no official stance against those game developers,
apart from their advocacy of a certain PPC software solution that causes
more headaches than joy.
No, the real beef is against Haage & Partner. It begins with an H, for
sure, but they aren't the same people. Simply because they did cause a
lot of headaches, are selling Vapor software with no license..

There is a big difference in quality and featureset. They retail for
about the same price (well, the AmigaONE is �100 more expensive in
reality) but you get more for your money with a Pegasos, in terms of
much higher design quality and much higher design specifications.
The Pegasos isn't a slightly reworked reference board with a ton of
legacy bugs.

I don't earn any money from helping to code Voyager, but it certainly
is fun to work from the other side of the internet, instead of fighting
with code to display in a browser the way I want, I fight with the
browser to display code someone else wrote..
.. plus I get to put it on my CV, which impresses the hell out of people
who want me to design websites or hire me as a programmer *crosses
fingers* :)
