Indeed it is. In an interesting bit of synchronicity, a friend who
doesn't do VRML just invited me to attend a talk Crawford is giving at
said friend's company next week. Will let y'all know how it goes.
Some tidbits about Crawford, from the info sheet about the talk:

o wrote _The Art of Computer Game Design_ while working at Atari.

o wrote _Balance of Power_, which if it's the game I'm thinking of is
imo the best computer game yet developed about nuclear war (you're
the head of a government; the object is to use diplomacy to avoid
nuclear war. If war occurs, the screen goes black, and it declares
that you have lost.) Written for the Mac, it apparently sold 250,000
   copies.

o created and edited _The Journal of Computer Game Design_.

o founded and ran the Computer Game Developers' Conference during its
   first seven years.
