Howdy gang,

I am in the process of pulling together the materials to build myself a Sage
LL 2pc. 3 wt. This will be the 5th rod I have built and I am considering
doing a couple of things different.

This rod will be my primary dry fly rod and I expect to use it a lot. I want
the lightest yet most durable rod I can build. I am considering using single
foot Fuji guides on the rod but I have never owned nor fished with a rod with
single foot guides. I am sure some of you have rods with these types of
guides so I am asking for some input. Is the reduction in weight worth what
you give up in two footed strength. I am concerned about strength and
stability of the single foot guides on a rod I plan to use a lot.

Question two. I am kicking around using gold colored ceramic guides but have
been warned off of these by a fly shop owner. He claims they wear out a lot
quicker. Any truth to this or is he living in the past.

Final thought. I am doing this rod purely for myself so I would like to make
it special. What special touches/parts do you have on your custom rods that
you would like to recommend?

Thanks a lot everyone.
