I can't imagine a 3 WT ever being too heavy. Nor can I imagine the
weight difference between single and double foot guides being even
noticeable. I've never built a ro dthough, so who knows. I used to
use a 4 WT exclusively and can't remember my arm ever feeling
abused. The only rods I own that make my arm feel like swiss
cheese at the end of the day are the steelhead rods...

Anyways, I've seen somebody put crossed jungle cock feathers
and a their signature above the grip on a personally built rod and
thought it looked pretty snazzy... If you have kids maybe have
them draw you up a few small fish symbols that you can place
above the grip for a really special touch. I remember reading an
article somewhere on how to put pictures and signatures on rods
but I don't remember where I saw it..

Good luck
Matthew
